Redeja, the Energy Network of the Junta de Andalucía, has made possible an annual saving in the energy consumption of the Andalusian Administration of more than 5,3 millones de euros. Redeja carries out its procedures through the Andalusian Energy Agency.
In a statement, the Junta de Andalucía has reported on the signing of two co-investment agreements to be able to carry out actions and achieve energy saving and efficiency objectives. These agreements have been established in hospitals of the Andalusian Health Service and in administrative buildings.
The 5,3 million euros of savings have been possible thanks to the use of renewable energies carried out in the hospitals and buildings mentioned above. Investments of about 18 millones de euros to be able to energetically rehabilitate 12 hospitals located in different provinces of Andalusia.
Among the actions carried out to improve the Energy Efficiency there are the substitutions of boilers for others with better performance, more efficient installations to be able to heat the water for sanitary purposes and whose operation is carried out through solar thermal collectors. Some boilers have also been changed to biomass boilers and cogeneration systems and replacement of chiller plants.
All these actions will be able to contribute to the saving of 3,1 million euros in the energy bill and it is equivalent to the energy consumed by 3.171 homes. With all this, it is possible to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in 9.953 tons per year.
To achieve energy improvements, Redeja has acted on four main lines. He has contributed to the management of the centralized electricity supply contract of the Junta de Andalucía. He has also acted in advising on contracting and energy matters in both new and existing buildings. It has made investments with previous audits in the buildings owned by the Board. Finally he has informed and trained the responsible for energy contracts of the centers attached to the network.
