Sustainability and energy transition in Germany

germany-renewable

The energy transition in Germany is based on the development of renewable energy and in increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the energy sources that exist today. With the aim of increasingly reducing the German demand for imported energy, they have increasingly increased this energy efficiency allowing the creation of thousands of new jobs and thus contribute to the citizen.

Germany has much higher ambitions than the rest of the EU countries. It has restructured the energy supply in such a way that more than 80% of the energy consumed by Germans comes from renewable sources by 2050. Increasing the use of solar and wind energy has also increased flexibility in the electricity market.

Thanks to the expansion of renewable energies, the price of electricity has been lowered to the benefit of industries that have high energy consumption. Capitalizing on the momentum of renewables, many industries are also have invested in this type of green energy.

Germany's electricity exports are increasing due to the low prices of electricity from renewable supplies. The more solar capacity it has to generate energy, the more electricity it will export to other countries.

In a period of 17 years, energy efficiency measurement tasks in industries and companies have generated more than 400.000 new jobs, which have helped in the fight against unemployment and poverty. Those jobs are in the construction and consulting services sector.

The renewable energies most used by Germans are wind, whose development and improvement is the one that has created more jobs, the energy obtained through biomass and in third place solar.

In 2014 around 355.000 people they worked in the renewable energy sectors.
