The German Association of the Solar Industry (BSW-Solar) announced that a milestone had been reached last month: photovoltaic installations of all the world already reach a power of 300 GWp. This and other data, such as the strong development that the accumulation systems market is having or the more than 6.000 GW of solar PV that is expected to have been installed in 2050 in the G20 countries, make it clear that the headline of this article is not a mere play on words. It is a reality.
La Intersolar Europe fair, which is held this year from May 31 to June 2 in Munich (Germany), will once again be an excellent showcase to see to what extent solar electricity is exponentially gaining followers, and thus see the latest trends in situ, technologies and products provided by manufacturers, distributors, service providers and suppliers.
Those who visit the fair, consolidated as the great world benchmark for solar photovoltaics, will be able to attend the Smart Renewable Energy exhibition, the Intersolar Award and the Intersolar Europe Conference (May 30 and 31), which offers a wide range of topics. They will also be able to better understand why Germany is the largest solar market in Europe and one of the largest in the world. According to the German agency Bundesnetzagentur, regulating the energy and communications sectorIn 2016, 51.900 new solar electricity systems were installed in the country with a power of around 1,52 GWp. The previous year they were 1,46 GWp and for this year 2017 the experts think that it is possible to exceed 2 GWp.
Ten years rewarding innovation
In 2017, the Intersolar Award celebrates its XNUMXth anniversary, rewarding innovative ideas and novel approaches with the award most important of the world within your sector
Its organizers indicate that by observing the subjects that have opted for these awards over the years, a monitoring of how the sector has evolved. Thus, while in the early years they focused on improving quality and efficiency, later they turned to optimizing components. In 2016, the sector became more concerned with digitization and in 2017 this trend continues: for the first time it will be introduced in the category «Exceptional solar projects»A new section:« Smart Renewable Projects ».
In addition, this year an award will be awarded for the first time to energy providers in the energy transition. With it we want to distinguish the most innovative energy suppliersFor this purpose, EuPD Research, an economic and market research company based in Bonn (Germany), has been used, which has developed a method that allows an objective assessment of the supply of energy suppliers.
Glimpse into the future
Another outstanding event is the “Smart Renewable Energy” exhibition, with the infrastructure platform Energy Lab 2.0, which investigates the way in which new principles and technologies are integrated into the energy system of the future, as the protagonist. In this project with the collaboration of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (Karlsruher Institut für Technologie, KIT) and the Helmholtz Community partners (Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft) - the Aerospace Navigation Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, DLR) and the Jülich Research Center (Forschungszentrum Jülich, FZJ).
The collaborating partners will present the project in this exhibition and explain their research on the complex interaction between the different components of future energy systems. The topic will also be discussed at the Smart Renewable Energy Forum, which every day of the fair deals with the concepts and technologies of the decentralized smart energy landscape.
Parallel agenda and guided tours
The Intersolar Europe Conference –Traditional seminars of the fair– it will be dedicated this year, above all, to large photovoltaic power plants. These pose new challenges for the sector in terms of operations and maintenance (O&M) and the development of efficient technologies. In addition, the conference will discuss financing models for the photovoltaic sector and how the decrease in prices of its components.
