Silicon Valley, of offshore wind energy by three European countries

wind turbines at sea

The largest renewable energy integration project so far it will be carried out through three European countries, specifically Holland, Denmark and Germany with TenneT Germany, Energetika.dk and TenneT Holland respectively that will create the Silicon Valley

This Silicon Valley of offshore wind is nothing less than the creation of an artificial island in Dogger Bank (sandy bank located in the central area of the North Sea, 100 km off the coast of Great Britain) where it is intended to operate the integration of up to 100 GW, connected through a platform, of offshore wind energy.

The reason? It is simple and it is that the North Sea is one of the few areas where there is more wind in the world. For this same reason they want to install in that area.

Plus you just have to take a look and you can see the number of offshore wind energy projects that exist there.

The project

This gigantic project has been called Power Link Islands (And it is that in the future there could be more islands of this type).

The wind energy to be generated will be distributed and transmitted through direct current lines to supply the North Sea countries such as Great Britain, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway and Belgium.

Of all these countries it is estimated that they will be able to benefit of this wind energy generated a total of about 80 million consumers. That number is very good! Don't you think?

The transmission cables will function in parallel as the interconnections between the energy markets of the aforementioned countries.

In addition, not only do they want to have electricity transmission wind power to connected countries but can also be allowed with these connectors trade of this electricity.

Silicon Valley

The representatives

Mel kroon, CEO of TenneT notes that:

“This project can significantly contribute to a fully renewable source of electrical energy in northwestern Europe.

Both TenneT and Energinet.dk have extensive experience in the field of onshore grid operation and offshore wind power connection. I am happy that we are going to take this step with our Danish colleagues and look forward to the participation of other transmission network operators and possibly other partners ”,

Y Peder Østermark Andreasen for his part he assures that:

“Offshore wind in recent years has proven to be increasingly competitive and it is important to us that there is constantly a further reduction in the prices of grid connections and interconnections.

We need large-scale projects so that offshore wind can play an even bigger role in our future energy supply. "

Your future

Silicon Valley or rather Power Link Islands has already been presented at the North Sea Energy Forum, likewise the representatives of the three transmission network operators (TSO) also they have met with Maros Sefcovic, vice president of the Energy Union.

We are just waiting for more fresh news to come out of this great project that will give a lot to talk about.

It will even be able to open infinities of possibilities to the integration of renewables to the European Grid.

The inconvenient of this project will be that many Southern European countries would be left out of Power Link Islands and future projects of this type.

Renewable energies are increasingly being heard, you can not only have renewables in a conversation in the street but they are present like the rest of the new technologies, which says a lot because show signs of maturity and acceptance and can be seen perfectly with Power Link Islands.

To finish I leave you a video where you can see the original size of this project, the truth is that it paints very well and I would like it to go ahead and see it with my own eyes.

Already off topic I will say that the video lacks some background music to be round lol.
