SALSA project: recharge electric cars with renewable energy

Electric vehicles

Today the use of electric vehicles is becoming more and more widespread and therefore, the technologies that make it more efficient are being developed more and more. Albufera Energy Storage is a large company dedicated to the storage of electrical energy and batteries and has promoted the SALSA project (Clean Automotive System with Storage Support). This project is based on the creation of a network of electric cars whose charging points are powered by renewable energy.

Renewable energies are a plus for economic savings and contribute to the fight against climate change. Due to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, renewables are a good resource to curb global warming. The problem with electric vehicles lies in the autonomy of the vehicle. However, the SALSA project takes away a bit of importance to this fact with the use of batteries in which Albufera Energy Storage is specialized.

Thanks to this, the first smart grid or smart grid in Spain in which the roads have energy recharging points for electric vehicles powered by renewable energy. These smart-grids are managed through data control with monitoring devices and ensuring the balance between the renewable energy generation and refills using Albufera Energy batteries for it.

The project will debut with a series of pilots in Havana (Cuba), but there are plans to expand through Madrid, Ibiza, Torrelavega and Pernambuco in Brazil. This network of electric cars begins only for tourism purposes to promote the use of renewable energy.

Isabel guerrero, SALSA project manager, states the following:

«The SALSA project has had an excellent reception in all the instances in which it has been presented, including municipalities and companies, and in all cases working groups have been created to study its implementation. Electric mobility is ideal in large cities and island environments, since the autonomies of electric vehicles cover the geographical distance and environmental requirements »
