The Life Shara project for adaptation to climate change

The Life Shara project Management Committee has held its first meeting in Madrid to address the steps to follow to curb the effects of climate change. Thanks to this project, the Biodiversity Foundation intends to govern the different guidelines to follow for adaptation to climate change and to be able to increase the resilience of Spain and Portugal in the face of it.

In the first meeting they have addressed some issues named on September 1, in which the project started and which will analyze the actions in February 2021. In the Life Shara project (Sharing Awareness and Governance of Adaptation to Climate Change in Spain) The technical direction of the Spanish Office for Climate Change works and it is intended that the knowledge of all the partners be shared together with the experiences to participate in decision-making.

This project has a budget of 1,5 million euros and is 57% co-financed by Life funds. What makes this project so important is that it has partners from the so-called Spanish Office for Climate Change, staff from the Autonomous Organization of National Parks through the National Center for Environmental Education (CENEAM), with people from the Agency. State of Meteorology (very necessary to predict changes in the climate) and also have the Portuguese Agency for the Environment.

One of the objectives of Life Shara is to be able to create and improve an information exchange platform related to climate change for greater adaptation and efficiency. With the increase in information and communication, environmental educators are in charge of increasing the awareness and awareness of the surrounding citizens and of the Spanish and Portuguese administrations.

The Biodiversity Foundation affirms that Spain has been one of the first countries in Europe to develop adaptation policies against climate change in 2006, materializing it with the approval of the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change (PNACC).
