Green energies

renewable

All the renewable energy (also known as clean) are all those energies that they do not originate greenhouse gases or any other emission harmful to the environment. Renewable energies are hydroelectric, solar, wind, tidal, geothermal or that which produces biomass. The production of some of them is subject to weather conditions, but in general they are found in unlimited quantities in nature.

Although this type of energy usually has a good press, its use has advantages and disadvantages. What is evidence and does not admit discussion is that sooner or later we will be obliged to use them since they will be the only possible and viable alternative when we exhaust fossil fuels such as coal or oil.

Its advantages are clear. Let's see them:

  • They do not pollute.
  • They are inexhaustible.
  • They do not need monitoring plans for the waste they generate, as for example nuclear energy does.
  • They generate more autonomy both in the commercial and residential areas, since, for example, energy demand can be covered with solar energy.
  • They generate jobs and give rise to new areas of research and innovation.
  • They do not pose any kind of threat to people's health, nor do they adversely affect flora and fauna.

Even so, they also have disadvantages, although not nearly as many as non-renewable ones. These are some of them:

  • El high investment cost. They have a high initial cost and are usually not profitable until after a while, so they can pose an investment risk.
  • It can occur intermittently (depending on the weather conditions), which means that its availability may not always be guaranteed.
  • They require large spaces to be efficient. Thus, for example, if you want to generate a large amount of electrical energy with solar panels, you will need a large area of land where to place the panels that generate the green energy.
  • Nor have a diffuse natureThat is, not all types of renewable energy can be used anywhere, with the exception of geothermal energy, which is a bit more versatile. Even so, it needs places where the terrestrial layer is thinner so that its generation is more efficient.
  • Some green energies generate a landscape impact. Wind energy, for example, has an impact on the landscape since it requires the installation of large wind turbines, whose propellers can also cause problems for some birds.

Thus, it is clear that the advantages offered by renewable energies are greater than the inconveniences that they can generate. The improvement of the efficiency and profitability of these alternative energies is based on the study, research and development of new technologies that complement the current ones and improve them, in order to generate better results and economic benefits.
