Discover the University Career of Renewable Energies

Windmills

Contrary to what many believe, if there is a place in the European Union where you can study a official university degree on renewable energy.

Specifically in the University of Wales, a British public university it is possible to study a career on renewable energy consisting of four academic years and 240 European credits (ECTS).

As stated on the official website of said university: "The purpose of this degree is analyze and evaluate the technologies, materials, systems and procedures related to this type of energy from two fundamental points of view: as an installer designer, capable of delivering turnkey installations to the client, including all parts of the work, and as a maintenance technician on the completed installation ”.

Objectives

  • Know in depth the main application technologies of renewable energy sources most installed today: they are the most profitable and most technologically developed
  • Identify and know the types of facilities dedicated to the use of the most widespread renewable resources (sun, water and wind), for which it is necessary to have generalized knowledge of other associated matters such as electricity, automation, electronics, monitoring, automatons, hydraulics, etc
  • Know the techniques of thermal use of solar energy, identifying the elements dedicated to the capture, transmission and management necessary for this technology
  • Know the photovoltaic energy both autonomous and connected to the network, as well as the systems, elements and techniques necessary for its correct installation
  • Learn the technology associated with wind turbines, understanding their operation, in order to maintain and manage a wind farm
  • Learn from the basic concepts of hydroelectric generation to the design of a mini-plant, through the development of the elements that compose it, its characteristics and its selection process
  • Know the process of transport and distribution of the energy generated in renewable energy facilities
  • Know the main legislation and regulations in Spain in the field of renewable energy
  • Implement adequate maintenance policies in renewable energy facilities, managing machinery, personnel and technologies
  • Prepare budgets and cost analysis, as well as carry out feasibility analysis for the correct dimensioning of the facilities.

Career Opportunities

This degree is aimed at all those who wish to train in the renewable energy sector, to carry out:

  • Studies of new sites for renewable energy facilities (solar, thermal, wind, etc.)
  • Development, execution and monitoring of projects of these facilities
  • Extensions or improvements of the same
  • Installation projects of a particular nature
  • Studies related to energy efficiency
  • Technical advice on renewable energies
  • Maintenance of renewable energy parks
  • Installation of solar systems
