A third of the energy that Germany consumes comes from renewable energy

Renewable Energies in Germany

Germany is producing 28.5 percent of its energy with solar, wind, hydrological and biomass. In 2000, renewables were only 6 percent of its energy consumption.

This is proof that Germany is essentially the world leader in renewable energy. There is no other country have shown such a dedication to clean energy to replace those based on fossil fuels or nuclear. It has been achieved thanks to the support for solar energy by encouraging the use of solar panels and imposing contracts with wind energy.

Just two years ago Germany broke a record when, for one day, wind and solar power plants generated enough energy to supply half of the country's needs for energy consumption.

And this year he broke all forecasts again when reaching 75 percent of the demand, which is three-quarters of the nation's total consumption based on clean and renewable energy. And we are not talking about just any nation, since Germany is one of the largest energy consumers on the planet, with one of the most powerful industrialized economies.

«The renewable energy share of energy consumption is expected to reach 28.5 percent in the first half of 2014. While in the same period of time last year it reached 24.6 percent«, Maintains the Federal Association of the Industries of the Energy and the Water (BDEW).

BDEW gives more data: wind energy grew by 21.4% in the first half of 2014 producing 31000 billion kWh. Photovoltaic plants produced 18300 billion kWh and grew by 27.3%. Biomass increased by 5.2 percent and in total they generated 22000 billion kWh so far this year.

The spectacular figures of the evolution that these vital forms of energy are having that are being so important for a sustainable future for all.
