800.000 people try to plant 50 million trees to break the Guinness Record

India

There should not even be that excuse of having to break a record for the motivation that is planting so many trees to repopulate an area that has been destroyed by the passage of a fire or for another reason more related to the action of human hands.

And is that more than 800.000 people tried last Monday to plant more than 50 million trees in India in hopes of breaking the Guinness World Record. 50 million saplings were distributed throughout the state of Uttar Pradesh in India to increase its forest and thus break the world record for the number of trees planted in 24 hours that was achieved by Pakistan in 2013 with 847.275 trees.

Students, lawyers, government officials, and others set out to plant trees in zones already assigned near roads, train tracks and on deforested land. According to the state government, this record tries to raise awareness about the importance of forests and their conservation in a deforestation that devastates many regions of the planet as we have known since news like this.

The Indian government is encouraging all states to conduct such plantations like the one in Uttar Pradesh. The government has put more than 6.200 billion dollars for this bet. India intends to cover with forest more than 95.000 hectares for the 2030 year.

The sites where the young trees have been planted will be monitored through aerial photographs. And typically, it's usually 60 percent of the young trees planted that survive, so it's important for the government to check how many are surviving.

Guinners World Records auditors are working incognito to check the number of trees planted and if so, the record that Pakistan has held since 2013 has been broken. We will see in days if this has been the case.
