5 simple actions to reduce our carbon footprint

We all produce a carbon footprint according to the activities we develop and the lifestyle we have.

But there are certain actions that we can all do to reduce our impact on the the environment.

The 5 daily actions that help us reduce our CO2 footprint are:

  1. Adjusting the thermostat in our home or office is important. We must go up 2 C in winter and go down 2 C in summer. With this we save 900 kg per year of CO2.
  2. Reduce garbage or waste such as packaging, wrapping and packaging of paper, glass, bottles, etc. We can save 500 kg per year of CO2.
  3. Reducing the use of the car 50 km a week, represents a saving per year of 450 kg of CO2 less.
  4. Use the washing machine or clothes washer only 2 times a week with a full load and at a temperature of 40c and no hotter allows save 225 kg of emission carbon dioxide.
  5. Replacing an incandescent bulb with a low consumption one saves us 75 kg.

If we carry out these actions, we can achieve a saving of 2150 kg of CO2 per year, so it is an important figure that if we multiply it by thousands of people, the reduction of CO2 that is prevented from reaching the atmosphere would be even greater.

It is important that each person and family analyze their carbon footprint and find a way to reduce it as a way to collaborate in combating the climate change, since if the same actions are replicated the effect is much more powerful.

It is not necessary to ban ourselves from everything or alter our life to make it more ecological, on the contrary, with small actions and some healthier habits we can help.

If everyone makes a little effort, it is easier to achieve important goals. These are just a few ideas but there are many others that we can apply to our lives.
