Many companies have a water expenditure in their activities and for this, they use drinking water. However, a bus company in Malaga has decided to save water and use an environmentally sustainable technique: store rainwater and use it to wash buses.
This is a measure that has been incorporated with new facilities and this reflects the respect for nature that they have as one of their fundamental axes. The company that has added this measure is Autocares Vázquez Olmedo.
Storing rainwater for bus washing
To carry out this water saving measure, they have added a 125 cubic meter tank at the headquarters to be able to store all the rainwater and thus not waste it. The company's fleet of vehicles has 45 of them and thanks to this water they can be washed without using drinking water. What's more, In addition to this tank, there is the implementation of a purification system that prevents contaminated water from being spilled from the plant. Part of this water goes to a vegetable garden, so the water must be in perfect condition so as not to contaminate the plantation.
Apart from all the treatment of purified water and the use of rainwater for washing vehicles, the bus company has opted for an environmental sustainability model based on self-sufficiency from solar energy by installing plates. photovoltaic.
Self-sufficient
According to Vázquez they are 100% self-sufficient thanks to solar energy. He has commented that they do not use traditional electrical energy and that the energy from the sun allows them to meet the demand for activities in the different departments of the company. He has also mentioned the difficulty that private companies have in having alternatives to fossil fuels. This is usually much easier in urban areas and with public companies.
Finally, the coach company's facilities, which are adapted to be efficient at a thermal and light level, are the result of an investment of 150.000 euros, which they hope to be able to amortize within ten years.
