Recyclable materials

recyclable materials to reuse

When it comes to recycling, we must know that there are different types of waste and materials. Many of the recyclable materials they must be previously recognized in order to be selectively separated and recycled. Recyclable materials are those that can be reused after their main use thanks to a previous recycling treatment. It can be in its elaborate form as its purest form.

In this article we are going to tell you about the use of recyclable materials and what they are.

Use of recyclable materials

recyclable materials

We have said that recyclable materials are those that can be used after their main use. First they must have a previous treatment known as recycling. Either in its elaborated form such as plastic made a bottle in its purest form as it's car antifreeze or oil, a new value can be extracted after the recycling process. That is, they return to the life cycle of the products.

This type of material does not have to become the same material again after the recycling process. Some are recycled taking advantage of the current utility and are conserved to the maximum or to generate energy. One of the most common cases for generating energy by recycling is plant biomass. Vegetable biomass was used mainly for the generation of fuel. The inedible parts of a plant can be recycled to generate energy by combustion or by extraction of its oils for the manufacture of biofuels that will later be used in vehicles or power generators.

Other recyclable materials are used according to the usual image we have in mind. In this way, we can use plastic bottles to regenerate other plastic bottles from them. One of the most successful recyclable materials is glass. Glass bottles can be practically completely recycled.

Recyclable material deposits

Once we know what the type of use that recyclable materials can have, we are going to see what they are. Thanks to today's technological advances, we have an increasing list of recyclable materials that can be used in one way or another. Nevertheless, Sometimes we see we have the waste in the wrong containers and the subsequent use is not allowed. For example, some deposit glass such as mirror glass in a window in the glass container. These materials cannot be recycled like we do with a glass bottle.

Let's see what are the materials that can be recycled:

Plastics and containers of various kinds

Containers of all kinds, be they bricks, liquid containers and aluminum cans, can be recycled in the yellow container. The white polystyrene cork is also a recyclable material that must be deposited in the yellow container. However, if we use a natural mattress, it must be deposited in the gray container where the organic remains go. The plastic caps are poured into the yellow even though the rest of the bottle is made up of glass. That is, we deposit the plastic cap in the yellow container and the rest in the green container.

Paper, cardboard and glass

recycling containers

It is clear that these three types of materials are recyclable. From a sheet of paper to a cardboard container we must deposit in the blue container. It has a great recycling rate and can be converted back to what it was or other products.

Glass is the most recyclable material. Can be fully utilized thanks to a recast process. Contrary to what happens with aluminum, the process can be repeated as many times as necessary. In aluminum, less and less is recovered. Therefore, it is important to recycle glass and deposited in the green container. It must be emphasized that the crystal glasses or the crystal of the advantages and mirrors do not go in the green container. This last crystal has lead oxide which means that in order to melt it has to be done at a different temperature than that of the glass and it cannot be recycled in the same way. For this reason, the glass should not be deposited in the glass container, without order of gray color with the rest of organic waste. The same goes for porcelain, plates, cups, etc.

Batteries, batteries and household appliances

There are a number of recyclable materials that it is not very well known what to do with them. It is important to properly recycle technological devices and the batteries that power them. It must be taken into account that due to the increase in technology, this type of waste is increasingly abundant. Thus, it is important to know well where to recycle. All of this is deposited in a clean point, although there are some specialized containers for batteries. There are many clean points in the cities and in some places such as markets where there are usually containers for batteries.

If not, you can take your locality or mobile parks to the ecoparks. Some waste such as light tubes or small appliances can be deposited in the mobile clean points so that we do not have to move too much. It is important to be aware of recyclable materials since some of them have harmful substances that can focus on the earth. Companies choose to use more and more components that can be used again to reduce the consumption of raw materials and lower production costs. Those materials that are not recyclable have their days numbered. And it is that by the European Union there is a ban on creating materials that cannot be recycled by 2020.

Technology and regulation are promoting the use of recyclable materials, so we must fulfill our role and contribute by separating and depositing each thing in the corresponding container. In this way, we help reduce the consumption of raw materials and contribute to the reduction of climate change.

I hope that with this information you can learn more about recyclable materials, their characteristics and where we should deposit them.
