First solar powered street lighting in Argentina

The first Street lighting of Argentina based on solar energy.

The city in which this system was installed is in the municipality of General Mosconi in the province of Salta. In these neighborhoods the inhabitants are mostly aboriginal of the Wichi ethnic group. This area has various urban infrastructure deficiencies, which is why it was one of those chosen for this project.

El autonomous photovoltaic system for lighting of the streets using as an energy source the solar radiation it is quite simple and easy to maintain.

In each column of the lighting a solar panel, a battery and a charge controller to regulate the Energy accumulated. This system is independent and autonomous so it only turns on at night and turns off when daylight begins.

This public lighting was installed in places agreed with the aboriginal community of the neighborhood, giving priority to the vicinity of schools, religious temples and places of interest to the residents.

With this simple measure, the lives of the people in this city will be significantly improved.

This project was developed by the municipality, supported by citizens, and received funding from the national government.

This type of initiative is very important because providing more services to poor towns helps to improve people's quality of life and achieve greater energy self-sufficiency.

In municipalities with significant poverty rates, it is important to look for long-term economic but durable alternatives, so this is an example of environmentally and economically sustainable public policy.

All the renewable energy they are an excellent alternative to achieve improvements in small towns or underprivileged cities. That is why it should be used more by local states in Argentina since this technology is still very incipient in this country.
