Electric vehicles are a good weapon to reduce pollution in cities responsible for transport. Thus, 18 new electric vehicles have been added to the fleet of transport in Valencia.

Do you want to know the advantages of the electric vehicle and how they have increased in recent years?

The councilor for the Integral Water Cycle, Vicent Sarrià, the CEO of Global Omnium, Dionisio García Comín, and the general director of IVACE, Julia Company, have participated in the presentation of the new ecological vehicles that the company will use in the city of Valencia.

These are new models of 100% electric vehicles that provide the sustainability and respect for the environment that our atmosphere needs.

There are many deaths per year that air pollution takes in cities due to road traffic and industries. The electric car revolution is starting slowly, but progressively since its incorporation in cities is complex.

The models that have been incorporated in Valencia are Renault Kangoo ZE and Zoe and their autonomy is 240 and 400 kilometers, respectively.

For the correct operation and ease of use of these vehicles, 26 recharging points have been installed in the center of Vara de Quart by the companies Emivasa and Global Omnium. This indicates that the fleet of electric vehicles may increase more and more in the coming years.

It is necessary to increase the number of electric vehicles if we want to reduce polluting emissions. The health of all is in our hands, although it is a difficult and ambitious job.

Climate change, as we know, is a reality that affects us all from the global to the local. Therefore, Global Omnium intends to contribute to the solution of this situation that would affect to our way of life and water resources.

Dionisio García has stressed the following:

"We have always proven to be a company involved with society and, how could it be otherwise, we are going to continue proposing solutions that contribute to their well-being and the use of ecological vehicles is one of them".

In order to reduce the effects of pollution and climate change, the acquisition of these vehicles in circulation will reduce emissions of more than 30 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, being one of the gases that contributes the most to global warming.

This decision is due to the corporate strategy whose purpose is the gradual replacement of diesel and gasoline vehicles with more sustainable ones that contribute to the conservation of the environment.

More innovation and sustainability

Global Omnium is incorporating the new technology to the type of ecological vehicles that do not reduce performance but that does contribute to the preservation of the environment in the autonomous community of Valencia.

Until now, 33 ecological vehicles have been incorporated (13 LPG and 20 electric), being planned to incorporate another 15 next year (4 LPG, 7 electric and 4 hybrids). This initiative increases sustainability and guarantees the environmental quality of future generations, since atmospheric pollutants are reduced.

For this type of technological development, Valencia has always been the epicenter. The adoption of electric vehicles in Valencia adds to the successes in technology that have been achieved in recent years. This makes Valencia the first metropolis that is committed to sustainability in road traffic.

A piece of information that supports this achievement is the recognition of the Innovation and City report, published by the Center For An Urban Future (CUF) and the Wagner Innovation Labs, of the NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, New York, where the remote reading of smart meters developed by Global Omnium, in the city of Valencia, stands out as one of the 15 most important world innovations, carried out in recent years.

As you can see, the rise of electric vehicles is getting closer and closer.
