Schlierberg, a German neighborhood where 4 times more energy is produced than is consumed

Sustainability

Since the 70s, Freiburg has been increasing its reputation and popularity as one of the ecological capitals from Germany. In 1986 the city had the vision for a sustainable one that would relegate in best transportation and energy efficiency programs that are among the best in the world.

Schlierberg is one of its neighborhoods and we have known today that generates more than 4 times the energy it consumes. A neighborhood that shows the way to become totally self-sufficient, since if they now produce more energy than they consume, their goal is to be independent with the new Powerwall batteries from Tesla.

How could you say the future is there before us, we only have to cross to him. Schlierberg consists of 59 wooden houses built with ecological materials in an area of 11.000 square meters.

Among one of the virtues of this neighborhood and of this city, is that its inhabitants usually move on foot or by bicycleApart from the fact that they have solar energy, they reuse rainwater and use ecological materials in their buildings.

Freiburg

This neighborhood has in all its homes photovoltaic panels placed in the right direction to receive solar energy from the 1.800 hours of sunshine they have per year. Freiburg, the city, is among the regions with the most sunny days in the year.

According to Rolf Disch, architect responsible for the project, the emission of about 500 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere is avoided. The houses are built in such a way that they have a simple roof and wide eaves that allow the presence of the sun's rays during the winter and protect the home during the summer.

One of those examples to follow, and if we count on that here in Spain we have cities with Huelva with more than 3.100 hours of sunshine a year, I don't know what we're waiting for. Exactly double that of a region like the one mentioned in this post, such as Freiburg in Germany.
