Japanese wind energy goes through two Spanish companies

SATH offshore wind platform

Two Spanish companies, Saitec Offshore Technologies and Univergy, Leioa, Bizkaia and Madrid-Albacete respectively they have just signed an agreement for the creation of SPA (Special Purpose Company) what is meant by a Special Purpose Company.

The proposed objective will be to develop floating projects with SATH technology in Japan.This SATH technology, developed by the Basque engineering company Saitec, is based on a pressed concrete floating platform that consists of 2 cylindrical and horizontal hulls, also having conical ends and linked to each other through bar structures in sections.

Univergy International is defined as:

"A Spanish-Japanese company specialized in the development of renewable energy projects that has extensive know-how (know-how) of more than 20 years in the development of renewable energy generation projects and with a portfolio of projects under development greater than 3,1 gigawatts (3.100 megawatts, MW)«.

Saitec Offshore Technologies:

It is a spin-off of Saitec engineering, created around the SATH floating technology, whose intellectual property he fully controls. Founded in 2016, this Basque company has bet from the beginning on floating solutions as a way to overcome barriers related to water depth.

Contribution

Univergy, already present in 12 different countries, contributes to the recent company (SPA) with the contribution of its "know-how" for the development of offshore plant projects in the Japanese territory, where a dominant position has been achieved in the last 5 years.

In addition, they are developing offshore wind projects totaling 800 MW.

On the other hand, Saitec Offshore contributes to SPA (Special Purpose Company) with the "know-how" technician to provide the necessary basic engineering to produce designs for the development of future offshore projects such as: the construction of the project, the selection of equipment and the implementation of the SATH technological solution.

Ignacio Blanco, Executive President of Univergy Internacional indicates:

"This agreement that unites Saitec and Univergy has a high strategic value for the development of offshore plant projects, both because of the experience of both companies in this sector of the economy, as well as because of the STAH floating technology".
