The edition of the awards has had a new category called "Company and biodiversity " to which 59 nominations have been submitted. The results obtained in this call indicate that the Spanish company is committed to the care and preservation of the environment and that it is part of a global market in which the environment has been integrated into business. This commitment to sustainable development is understood as an opportunity and a source of employment and wealth.
What companies have been awarded?
The company Mahou SA has been awarded in the category of Management for Sustainable Development for the launch of an innovative project. This project has introduced a fairly effective tool in the use of natural resources such as the analysis of the life cycle of products. In this way, there is an analysis and awareness of all the phases through which a product passes from the cradle to the grave.
In addition, this life cycle analysis allows you to calculate the environmental footprint of the entire value chain of your products. By being more aware and knowing all the stages of the product, it has meant a 38% reduction in water consumption, 43% in energy expenditure and 40 thousand tons of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.
Another award has been given for the company Ewaste Canarias SL, for being the first plant for the treatment and conversion of refrigerant gases from waste electrical and electronic equipment (RAEES). It is in the small business category and uses biogas as an energy source. It also continuously incorporates the circular economy and the interaction of people at risk of social exclusion.
In the category of Product / Service for Sustainable Development, the aforementioned business group has obtained the first prize irize for its contribution to solving mobility problems in cities, creating and developing the first 12% electric 100-meter urban bus with its own technology.
