The Cabildo de La palma will allocate € 200000 in aid to self-consumption

consumption

The Cabildo de La Palma will allocate 200.000 euros in aid for the self-consumption of individuals, they will have to install a small photovoltaic plant in their home.

Unlike what happens in mainland Spain, the aid is intended for individuals who bet on this renewable energy with powers equal to or less than 10 kW of power.

In fact, the aim of the aid is to carry out electrical energy production projects using photovoltaic panel systems for self-consumption by those homes that, having a connection to the distribution network, wish to reduce consumption and contribute to energy savings.

The Minister of Economic Promotion, Commerce, Energy and Industry of the Cabildo de La Palma, Jordi Pérez Camacho, highlights the great opportunity that these grants represent for all families who believe in renewable energies, and in this way they help the sustainability of the Island.

For all interested parties, the application can be submitted for 30 business days, starting from January 4, 2018, as can be read in the call for the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Other projects

As we have commented on this page, there are many actions in favor of renewables that are being carried out in the Canaries, then we are going to comment on some of them.

In fact, Mr. Fernando Clavijo, current president of the Canary Islands, has stated in a statement that in a territory such as the Canary Islands It is essential to promote projects that allow to promote energy saving and efficiency, reduce costs and advance in the development of a more sustainable and competitive model.

Clavijo considers that the Canary Islands have perfect natural conditions, which allow promoting the development of renewables, not only to move towards a change in the energy model, but also as an activity to diversify the economy of the islands, and thus increase their GDP.

Gran Canaria

En Gran Canaria, the Cabildo foresees, among other actions, the installation of wind turbines and photovoltaic panels in several desalination plants and treatment plants, the construction of three wind farms or the implementation of photovoltaic plants in buildings as well as public lighting with LED technology and the installation of recharging points of electric vehicles.

Another initiative is that of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, This will carry out four actions to improve energy efficiency by investing in lighting and home automation, modernizing the surrounding infrastructure of buildings and roofs. In addition to the renovation and adaptation of electrical installations in six buildings.

Tenerife

The Cabildo de Tenerife proposes R + D + i actions on marine instruction processes in aquifers; energy accumulation and load management to reduce consumption at ITER; a high enthalpy geothermal air conditioning system for cooling the D-Alix Datacenter or studying the potential of the island's geothermal energy to generate electricity and for thermal uses.

The creation of a Technological and Renewable Energy Institute and a plan to reduce energy consumption in public buildings in the southwest of the island are also planned.

En La GomeraMeasures such as the provision of photovoltaic lighting in the island network of canopies for the transport of passengers by road will be implemented; the creation of an island network of recharging points for electric vehicles or the creation of a photovoltaic energy park associated with a cattle farm.

Lanzarote

In Lanzarote will install new wind farms, with a power of 9,2 megawatts, located in Teguise, Arrecife and San Bartolomé, a photovoltaic plant in Maneje and a self-consumption wind farm in Punta de los Vientos. In addition, work will be done on increasing the energy efficiency of public lighting and promoting the use of waste as a source of renewable energy.

Biofuel

Las Palmas

In Las Palmas, his Cabildo foresees the drafting of the project of the new energy model and the performance of wind, photovoltaic and solar thermal energy actions. In addition, measures are foreseen regarding the use of agricultural and forestry by-products, actions in the field of mini-hydraulic energy and geothermal energy projects, whether low or high enthalpy.

El Hierro

El Cabildo of El Hierro will carry out improvements in the road network and will encourage pedestrian and cyclist displacement through a Sustainable Mobility Plan. This consists of several actions, such as the improvement of the Bentama road, creation of roundabouts at intersections and paving the coastal road, new bike lanes, among others.
