A month later, the City Council announced that it would allocate 12,4 million euros for the installation of solar panels in 48 municipal buildings.
The strategy of the municipal government is that - through aid and patronage - private companies and individuals install plates with which generate energy on roofs of municipal buildings in addition to schools, libraries or civic centers.

Some of the twelve pergolas inject the energy generated directly into the electricity grid, while others, such as the one in the Plaza del Center, accumulate the electricity in a battery system. The four new future pergolas will be installed in Plaça Joan Pelegrí, covering the Sants Station tracks (both in Sants-Montjuïc), Joan Cortada street (Horta-Guinardó) and Serra i Martí park (Nou Barris). ). There are six other pending bids.

As detailed by the city council, the tender will be opened for 31 new projects for the installation of solar panels in buildings of public use.
